Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week Carder Elementary School PTA April 30-May 4, 2012 Join us in a well deserved celebaration of our teachers and staff! We are requesting that each student send in a small token of appreciation to help show our Carder teachers and staff just how much we care about them.  Don't forget to include your favorite specials teacher(s), guidance, nurse, cafeteria, janitors, and office staff.  Students are encouraged to participate with small tokens of appreciation on the following days: Tuesday:  a picture(s) drawn by you Wednesday:  one flower picked from your garden or one piece of chocolate Friday:  make a card for favorite teacher(s) and staff members (listing all their special qualities)

Kindergarten Orientation! Sponsored by Carder School PTA Kindergarten Orientation at Carder school is a no cost program for children expected to enter kindergarten for the following year at Frederick Carder Elementary School.  During this four-week program, the children will tour the school, meet kindergarten and specials teachers, experience the cafeteria lunch line and learn about bus safety which includes a short bus ride.  In addition, the children will listen to stories, enjoy a snack and make a craft.  Our hope is that children who have attended the orientation will acclimate to the school surroundings faster, thereby feeling more at ease on the first day of school. The 2012 program will offer a morning (9:30-10:45am) and an afternoon (12:45-2:00pm) session on the following Tuesdays, May 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th. Please note:  Both sessions of Kindergarten Orientation are currently full.  If you would like to be placed on a waiting list please contact Candice Hill at hillcd@stny.rr.com.

Congratulations to Mrs. Tannenberger’s class! They sent in 1,181 Box Tops and are the February winners! Mr. Smith’s class was second, and Mrs. Hartman was third. Thank you to everyone who has sent box tops in. Keep clipping, there will be one more collection before the end of the school year.
